Leaves of Change Shawl by Jenna Krupar

Leaves of Change Pattern Review:
  • Clarity: 5 stars
    • The simple, well-spaced format of the pattern makes it very easy to follow.
  • Aesthetics: 5 stars
    • The design is simple--in a good way! The photos are beautiful and the layout is clear.
  • Charted/Written: 5 stars
    • The pattern is both charted and written. I followed the charts, so I cannot speak to the written directions personally. I can say that the written directions were presented clearly.
    • I REALLY loved the little piece above the first chart that said "Work the charts in this order..." I know I would have goofed up without that! I rarely look back to the written directions once I am into the charts.
    • The charts were quite large and easy to see.
  • Representative Pictures: 5 stars
    • The photos are beautiful and show the shawl clearly and accurately!

Beeswax Hat by Amy van de Laar

Beeswax Hat Pattern Review:
  • Clarity: 5 stars
    • The pattern is very clear and easy to follow.
    • There are links to videos of Lee Meredith's version of twisting stitches without a cable needle and without dropping stitches off of needles.
    • Even if you have the printed copy and cannot follow the link to the videos, there are written tips and tricks which also clearly describe the cabling techniques. I appreciate Amy's consideration given to different types of learners--both those who need to read something as well as those who need to see and hear to learn.
  • Aesthetics: 5 stars
    • The pattern design is very cute and cohesive. Again, those little bee drawings just got me!
    • I think the color choice in the pattern picture (gold) was well thought-through considering the nature (beeswax) of the pattern.
    • Charted/Written: 5 stars
      • The pattern is both charted and written. I followed the charts, so I cannot speak to the written directions personally. I can say that the written directions were presented clearly.
      • The charts in this pattern were large and incredibly clear and easy to follow.
    • Representative Pictures: 5 stars
      • The photos are beautiful and show the hat clearly and accurately!
      • The adorable little bee drawings make the photos unique and, honestly, are part of what drew me in initially!
